If you’re new to Lexington, you will quickly find that it’s an amazing city. I moved here for college six years ago and never left! There are a ton of places I love in Lexington, but here are a few of my favorites. These are the places I wish I had known about when I came to UK as a freshman.
529 W Main St
This downtown coffee shop is my absolute favorite. The Roastery is a great place to study, pray, read or just hang out with friends. I have even painted there multiple times. I love The Roastery because it’s a place for everything! They have live music, speakers and other events. Check out their Twitter page @TheRoaster529 to find out what’s happening!
417 East Maxwell St
Talk about a hidden gem! It’s hard to believe this beautiful little place is in the middle of the city. When you walk inside you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a secret garden. KY Native Cafe has food, drinks and the most relaxing atmosphere. Come here with a group of friends, and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Also, check out Michler’s Greenhouse and Florist that’s connected to the cafe!
1218 S Broadway
If you’re looking for a place to escape the chaos of life and spend time with The Lord, go to the Prayer Room. There are books, musical instruments, a large community room and several individual rooms where you can read, pray, worship and simply rest in His presence. This is hands down one of the best places to do quiet time.
502 Columbia Ave
Better known as CSF, this is the campus ministry I deeply wish I had been part of as a freshman. I went to CSF my junior year and it completely changed my life! CSF accepted, loved, encouraged and included me from the moment I stepped into the building. It became my new home. The staff is wonderful and the students are a blast! They have a ton of events. HUGE parties, FREE Friday Midnight Pancakes, a weekly worship service (Synergy), a weekly event for freshmen (Shift), and much more! Be sure to check out their website for a list of over fifty K-Week Events.
So whether you’re with a group of friends or spending the day having some me-time, check out these fun Lexington spots! You won’t regret it.
