You Are Not Alone

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

Hebrews 10:24-25

You are not alone! You may think you are only the person in the whole world who feels the way you do, who’s experienced what you’re going through, who’s been where you’ve been. But you’re not alone.

That used to be my story. I thought no one would understand. No one would get it. The fear of trying to make someone understand my story crippled me into isolation. I stopped sharing what was going on in my life, stopped initiating hanging out with people and stopped trying to make friends. Isolation made me feel alone to a point where I thought I was unlikable and unlovable.

But God…(Oh, how I love that phrase)!

But God, showed up and told me I was not alone. He gave me friends who accepted me for exactly who I was, who understood my struggles and loved me through them. God showed me community is essential, and community was the only way I was going to fully heal from my insecurities.

You are not alone and you were not created to live a life of isolation. We were created to live in community, spurring one another on, motivating each other, encouraging one another and loving each other for who God made us to be.

So do not neglect your friends or your family. Don’t push them away. When you feel like no one else will get it, is when you need someone else the most.

  1. Is there an area of your life where you feel alone? Explain.

  2. Do you have community in your life? If so, who are they? When you spend time with them do you feel like they make you better and encourage you?

  3. If you do not have community, where could you start looking for community?

  4. What is one step you can take towards community today?

Lord thank You for creating me, help me see myself the way You do. Help me to fight against loneliness with Your truth. Guide me towards healthy community. Community that will build me and lead me closer to You.
