This is my command - be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. - Joshua 1:9
There isn’t a single person on this earth who won’t face disappointments, trials, hardships, and failures at some point in their life. In those times we usually want to place the blame on someone else, and more often than not I throw the blame onto God. When life doesn’t go the way I’d like it to, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by negativity or disappointment. I usually ask God why he would let me, His daughter, go through difficult times if He supposedly loves me so much. I often feel abandoned and forgotten by God when I’m caught in seasons full of disappointments or hardships. In these moments I’m blinded to some beautiful truths that God has promised all of us.
He is close to the broken-hearted. (Psalm 56:3)
He stands by us and strengthens us. (2 Timothy 4:17)
He gives us rest when we are weak and weary. (Matthew 11:28)
He is always with us. (Psalm 139:18)
His power is made perfect in our weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)
So my sisters, let's start to turn away from our moments of disappointment and hopelessness. Let’s start looking at the blessings of today from a God who is in the business of hope, renewal, and possibility.
What is usually your first reaction when faced with major hardships, disappointments, or failures? Do you think this is a good or bad reaction?
What are some scriptures that you could reflect on to turn your eyes to God in those moments?
Heavenly Father, thank You so much for Your constant pursuit of our hearts and presence in our lives. My prayer is that we seek You in the good times and bad, remembering that You will never leave our side and You have a plan for everything. Remind us of these amazing truths and allow us to set our eyes on You, not the things of this world. We love you, Lord, and pray all these things in your name, amen.
