Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. - 2 Corinthians 5:17
Isn’t it pretty great to know that you can run to God as your Heavenly Father? We no longer have to be tied to our circumstantial A doubts and fears, but can turn to Him knowing we have been adopted into His Kingdom. God’s universal invitation to be part of His family just requires us to have faith in Jesus. Through our confession of faith, instantaneously God welcomes us into His family.
There may be times in life where you may feel like a complete foreigner, even to your own family. Perhaps you have experienced rejection from loved ones, and dare I even say been hurt by the church. Both circumstances can leave deep wounds. Growing up in a dysfunctional family definitely distorted my view of what a “family” was. It made me question my role in the family of God and essentially question God’s role as my Heavenly Father. Through situations I encountered, God constantly reminded me of His presence in my life as my Heavenly Father, regardless of the actions of those around me. God remained as a steady rock in my life, reminding me that I was chosen, loved, and adopted into His family. Christ’s love grounded me in having confidence that I can trust Him as my Heavenly Father.
What joy it is to know that we get to be a part of His Kingdom! Although we do not deserve it, God has given us the privilege to be called His children because He loves us. Flourish in the good news of being a part of God’s family.
1. Am I a child of God?
2. What verses can I reflect on to remind myself I am a child of God?
- If I am not a child of God, what steps can I take to become part of His family?
Heavenly Father, I thank You because You chose Your Son to die for us, allowing us to become part of Your Kingdom. Remind me that, even when I feel alone, that I am Your child, and You love me. Amen.
