Whatever You Do...

Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything—encores to the end of time. Oh, yes! - 1 Peter 4:10-11 MSG

I believe that God has given every single person in the world a gift or skill. Do you know what your gift is? Singing? Art? Cooking? Speaking? Even if you haven’t discovered your gift yet, trust me, you have one. No, you didn’t get that gift from your mom's side of the family and no, you didn't inherit that skill from you dad’s brother’s 3rd cousin. You inherited that gift from Christ's family. God is behind all of those things you’re good at and He wants us to use our gifts for Him.

As sons and daughters of Christ we should want to please our Father. One of the ways we do that is by faithfully using our gifts in the way He instructs us to. Colossians 3:23-24 MSG says, “Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you’re serving is Christ.”

God wants us to be a blessing to others. He does not give us our gifts for our own personal gain. We are given these gifts to benefit others and to build His kingdom. If you’re blessed with the gift of music, sing for Him, write Him new songs of praise. Maybe your gift is that you’re an awesome mechanic, volunteer to fix cars for free to those who can’t afford a mechanic. Just remember, whatever you do, let it be done in love and for His glory, not yours.

1. Have I discovered what my God given gift is?

2. How can I use my gift to bless others and help build His Kingdom?

Hey God, thank You so much for this day. Thank You for saving me and for allowing me to be a unique part in the body of Christ. God, I ask that You reveal to me what gift You have given me. I ask that You help me to grow and harvest my gift so that I can use it to better serve You. I ask that You help me to hide behind the cross and give You all the glory in whatever I do. In Your beautiful name. Amen.
