The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
- Psalm 34:18
Going through a breakup can lead to a terribly broken heart, and that broken heart can lead us down a path of brokenness. Unfortunately so many of us have been there. Our minds flash back to the moment that Mr. Right (or Mr. Not So Right) slipped away and we felt like our lives would never be the same again. I’ve been there, and it’s a terrible season to walk through. We often feel abandoned, lonely, worthless, unloved, and completely broken even if we knew it was never meant to be.
Sisters, I’m here to tell you that in those moments you’ve faced that kind of darkness, you were never alone. Our Heavenly Father was standing right beside you, embracing you with His unconditional love saying, “Daughter, I’m here and I’ll never leave you. This is all part of my plan.” In those moments we need to take an honest look at our lives and rest in knowing our Father is right beside us. We must allow our heartbreak to be healed and let Him turn our brokenness into beauty. My friend, you are so strong and you have a Heavenly Father beside you who's even stronger. Turn to Him, serve Him, love Him, accept His help, and throw the love He has given to you onto everyone like confetti. The enemy wants to take your pain and make it even worse, but God wants to take your pain and display His power through it. So let Him! The heartbreak you feel dares you to let God be enough and to depend on Him. So take that leap of faith.
1. If you have ever experienced a breakup, how did you handle the situation? How did you feel afterwards?
2. How can you let God take away those feelings of brokenness?
3. What actions can you take to overcome all negative feelings that engulf us after breakups? How will you hold yourself accountable?
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You so much for bringing purpose to our pain. Thank You for never leaving our sides and for always engulfing us with Your incredible love. I pray that, through seasons of brokenness, we continue to seek You and turn our pain into something beautiful while trusting in Your plan. You are a good, good Father and we love You so very much. Amen.
