For by grace you have been saved through Faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9
Every day I struggle with sin, I feel as though I am not saved, and that the Lord gets angry with me. It wasn’t until my pastor said, “You have been saved by grace," that I realized I was flawless to Jesus Christ.
So, what is grace? I like to think of grace as love! A love so powerful that the Lord is willing to continue to have a relationship with us, and to bless us, even through our sins that we commit each day. Because of grace, when I ask for forgiveness He forgives me. I don’t deserve to be forgiven or to be saved, but because of God's grace I am.
I used to try to be the “perfect” Christian. I used to try to write down sins that I wouldn’t do for each day, and I would try my hardest not to do any sin at all, and yet I always failed. I failed each day, and that caused me to feel like I wasn’t a Christian. Having a relationship with the Lord doesn’t happen because of your “works,” because of you following the rules; it happens because of grace, because He loves us. The truth is, the only perfect person that ever walked this earth was Jesus Christ. We as humans are not near being perfect, and as we live on this earth we will never be.
It’s not our works that save us, it’s by believing in Jesus Christ, knowing that He paid the price so we can have a relationship with the Lord.
