Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
- Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
I love how God plants big dreams and ideas in my heart. You know, those dreams that I definitely cannot complete on my own. You know, the ones that I know I will need God and ALL his strength and guidance to carry out.
About eight months ago, God put one of those dreams in my heart. I was so excited and ready to get started because it is going to help so many people across my home state of Texas. The catch is, where will I get the funding and resources? For the last four months or so, God has been giving me instructions to move forward. But, I must say that this is a big task and would require me to move out of my comfort zone.
Well, a few things happened over the last few weeks, and God has pushed me out of that comfort zone.
I must admit that the one thing that usually holds me back from keeping my strength and staying committed to what God tells me to do is fear. Sometimes it is fear that I am not good enough to do what He has called me to do. Other times it is fear of the unknown. Either way, me not being committed to what God has called me to do is being disobedient. I do not want to be disobedient to God. I also must wonder how many people are being affected because of my delayed obedience?
You shall therefore obey the voice of the Lord your God, keeping his commandments and his statutes, which I command you today. - Deuteronomy 27:10 (ESV)
Committing to what God has called us to do shows our obedience to Him and our faith to go forth in the purpose of His calling in our life. This year and always, I want to be obedient to God. I want to move forward in my purpose and calling. I am not sure what it is that may be holding you back from moving forward to your commitment to the Lord. Just know that He will give you strength to keep moving forward. All you have you to do is seek Him and listen to His voice.
Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually.
- 1 Chronicles 16:11 (ESV)
Let us be bold, courageous, and fearless. Let us stay committed and focused to what God has called us to this year and always. This will require His strength and trusting Him with ALL our heart.
1. What is it that is holding you back from staying committed to God and what He has called you to this year and always?
2. What change will you make to ensure your strength so that you can stay committed to God and what He has called you to this year and always?
Thank You for Your mercy and grace. Please forgive us for any delayed obedience. We ask for Your continued strength and guidance as we continue to commit ourselves and our lives to You. We trust You to continue to direct our paths and provide any resources needed this year and always. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
