I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. - Galatians 2:20
This piece of Scripture speaks to me so deeply that it pushes me every day to make a conscious and intentional decision to actively choose Jesus that day. I have always had the type of personality that is easily influenced by the things going on around me. I have always struggled with motivation (probably stemming from the idea that it’s impossible to make an impact, so why try…) but once I prayed for Jesus to engrave this Scripture on my very heart, it all became easier.
Now, instead of waking up every morning and focusing on the long list of daunting tasks that need to be finished that day, I wake up with a grateful heart. I tell myself, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” I wake up and I make a conscious, deliberate decision to spend my morning looking for God in everything. It is then that I realize that even the most mundane tasks take on a whole new meaning. It is so easy to fall into the routine of daily life and the endless list of things that need to be finished, but when you truly realize that your life is not yours…GAME CHANGER!
My life is not about my own comfort, my life is not about my own happiness, but instead my life is about the purpose that God gave me the moment that I accepted Christ. It is about making Him known and gaining ground for His Kingdom. So, even if you have to spend the entire day at work, away from the ones you love, completing tasks that you don’t want to complete, find God’s purpose for you there. Be intentional to seek out opportunities that God is placing in your path to see Him working and to point someone toward Him that may not be looking His way otherwise.
Start today to make an intentional choice to spend this day actively seeking God and choosing to truly be like Jesus, knowing that your old self has been crucified with Him and it is now Him who lives in you. Spend time looking for God in even the smallest of tasks…I promise, He’s there! Take time to actually try to think the way that Jesus would think. Seek out those that need your help and help them. Look for those people that you run into that may seem coincidental and is actually an opportunity given to you straight from God.
1. In what ways are you choosing Jesus daily? In what ways are you currently not choosing Jesus daily?
2. What does this Scripture (Galatians 2:20) mean to you?
God, use these words to spark a fire in my heart to be intentional about the way that I spend my time. Help me to see the areas where I need to search for You more and the areas where I am not choosing You daily. Help me to keep this fire burning every morning to use that day to choose You. Thank You for Jesus and thank You for desiring to work in my life through these words. Amen.
