Trust You Won't Sink
The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind. I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be. - Jeremiah 17:9 MSG
As a mom I delight in being able to give my children the things they want for Christmas or their birthdays. It makes me feel great knowing how happy I made them. Something we may not realize is our Father in Heaven also delights in giving us things that we desire. Sometimes we have desires we think are good for us, but our Father knows overall they are NOT in our best interest. Christ is omniscient, He knows EVERYTHING that has been and is to come that will be good in our lives. We have to trust He knows which of our desires are going to be prosperous for us or a hindrance to us.
Here’s a big truth pill for us all to swallow, DIVINE REJECTION IS REAL, and it’s not a bad thing. Several times I’ve cried to God, “This is my desire Lord. Please give me this!!” but He knows it isn’t good for me. God’s love is so powerful and unending that He may not give us certain things to protect us. Sometimes there are things we desire that might not be a hindrance at all, but God will keep them from us because He has something even better in store! I prayed for OVER A YEAR for a job. I desperately needed one. I applied in at least 10 different places, mostly fast food. I didn’t get a single call back. I basically gave up trying and said “God, this is all you now.” Then one day, out of nowhere, I got offered a part time position at the Mountain Arts Center. That part time position turned into full time position and now I'm in training for a management position!
You have to make that decision in your life to walk on the water, TRUST you won't sink (Matthew 14:22-33). God will provide you with the love and strength, but you have to take that first step in obeying His plan for your life. He will always always provide us with what we need!
1. Am I fully trusting God when it comes to providing for me?
2. What can I do to have the confidence to step off the boat and walk on the water?
Hey God, I praise you for you steadfast love and unending faithfulness to me. I submit everything I have to you right now. I give it all to you and I know God, that you will provide!
