You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. -Psalm 139:13-14 (NLT)
This week at Lane of Roses is all about creativity, which has me extremely excited. It’s a topic I’m very passionate about. We are drenched in the miraculous handiwork of our Father at all times. There is not a day that goes by that I’m not in awe of the splendor that I’m surrounded in. Each of us has inherited unique traits from the Creator of the universe that are specific to us and us alone. The one and only God, who created everything that is good and everything that is beyond any of the places our earthly imaginations could ever take us, decided that we were worth being gifted a piece of His very own creativity. That’s just one example of the many and amazing ways God values us. Praise Him loudly for that stunning and humbling truth!
Understanding and believing how and who God made us to be is a discovery process and sometimes it takes time. If you haven't discovered the way in which He created you to be creative don’t be discouraged. He will reveal it to you in His timing (1 Corinthians 2:10).
And know that your creativity may not be defined by the world or even Pinterest standards, but know God’s design is always perfect and true. Psalm 18:30 (ESV) reads: “This God—his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.” He took time to create YOU for a specific purpose with a gift unique to you and Him alone. He hasn’t forgotten you. He will not hold it back forever. Keep leaning in to Him and in His perfect time you will come to fully know your gift too.
If you’ve ever doubted or struggled with the reality of just how intimately God loves, values, and knows you or questioned if you’ve actually been given a creative gift, I’d like to encourage you to read Psalm 139 in its full entirety. The author of this chapter does a fantastic job using his creative gift to help us try to grasp the depths of God's workmanship in creating us because he understands that no one other than our very Creator could design us so uniquely, know every detail about us, and still love and value us more than anyone ever will.
Let us be women that seek to understand the depths of God’s love and design for us while boldly using our creativity to share Jesus with the world, leaving room for our teacher to shine through us for His glory.
1. What are your favorite ways that God reveals His creativity to you?
2. If you already know, which ways has God gifted you to be creative? If you don’t know yet, ask a trusted friend in what ways they see God has gifted you to be creative.
Heavenly Father, Thank You for creating me in Your image and for the gift of creativity. Whether we’re enjoying it or sharing it, it is a gift from You that I don’t want to ever take for granted. When I forget, please send Your Spirit to remind me that You’ve created me with a gift for a purpose. Help me to stewart Your gifts well. In Your mighty name I pray, Amen.
