“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into His presence with singing! Know that the Lord, He is God! It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name! For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.” Psalm 100:1-5
At this point in my life, it seems insane to think that I could look at my life and all that I have, all because of God’s provisions in my life, and think that I somehow have earned this life or have a right to the blessings that have come to me only as a direct reflection of God’s faithfulness and His goodness. But there was a time in my life when I did just that. Up until this point, I was okay with the way I was looking at things. I thought to myself, “Wow, look at the life you’ve made for yourself. You’re doing pretty good, if I do say so myself.” I was trying to do everything on my own power. I looked right past the evidence of God in my life and chalked it all up to my own doing. Boy, was I wrong! Though God continued to show Himself in my life daily, I was blinded to His goodness by my own ego. This time actually led into a long, tough season of seeking and wandering that changed my entire outlook on life.
The truth is this, friends… “For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.” - Psalm 100:5
His steadfast love does endure forever! Even through the times when I was blind (because of my own doing) to His goodness, even through the times when I praised myself instead of Him for all of the good things in my life, and YES, even through the times when I continued to willfully live in sin with no regard for His sacrifice for me. He was there through all of those seasons, which shows me undoubtedly that He will be there through the rest of them as well!
His faithfulness is so evident in our lives if we would only take a minute to look at them through that lens. God has provided, He has rescued, He has given abundant grace, and He has spared us from the fate that we so obviously deserve. Now that is faithfulness!
So today, I want you to take a moment to reflect back on your life and intentionally seek out the moments of God’s faithfulness and steadfast love. Give thanks! Rejoice! Dance in His presence! Enter His gates with thankfulness and offer your praises!
