After seeing Him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this Child. All who heard the shepherds' story were astonished… Luke 2:17-18
God chose the most improbable group of men to spread the good news of Jesus, the shepherds. They had no status, nothing about them to make anyone notice. They were tending their sheep, doing their work, when all of a sudden… The excitement they probably felt, the awestruck wonder of it all! And it says the people were astonished! Can you imagine how they must have felt to be the messengers of the birth of God’s Son?
God shows up in the most unlikely of places. He could have revealed His Son to the Jewish Officials but he chose the ones who he knew would be filled with awe and couldn’t contain themselves. They gave God the glory. Luke 2:20 says, "And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, just as it had been told them."
Whenever I get a touch or “visit” from God, I have to tell other people! I’m always in awe of how God works and how he is sovereign over everything. Just when I think I’m on my last dollar, God shows up. Or when I need a word of encouragement, He speaks through the people around me. He is always teaching me through different avenues that I can relate to. All I can say is God takes what we think is impossible and makes a way.
Reflection 1. Today share a story with someone of how God is working in your life.
2. Give God glory and praise by singing your favorite worship song.
3. Ask God to show up in an unlikely place and reveal Himself to you.
I want to praise You, thank You, and glorify Your Name! You are the God of the improbable, unlikely, and impossible! You shine through people who we wouldn’t expect. I thank You for choosing me. Amen.
