You Are so Worth the Wait

Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires.

– Psalm 37:4

I’m quite possibly one of the world’s worst hopeless romantics. I’ve always been that way, and I definitely don’t see that ever changing. Maybe you’re the same way. If so, then you know that having a quality like this can easily go awry and lead to some serious heartache.

We all have those desires somewhere in our hearts – whether they have a strong grip on your heart, or you feel just a glimmer of those dreams, it’s so easy to get frustrated and give up on the wait. When we let that happen, we allow ourselves to settle for less than God’s best.

And let me tell you this, dear reader: you are so. Worth. The wait.

Really, you are. It’s not just me who thinks so.

I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine... you are precious to me. You are honored and I love you. –Isaiah 43:1,4b

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that falling in love with Jesus first and foremost is going to change the way you see love in this world entirely. His love is so much stronger than anything else you’ll ever encounter. When I look at the Bible, I see a love story. To me, it’s a story of redemption. It’s all leading up to Love Himself coming to do whatever it takes to literally save our lives – even if it leads Him straight to dying on a cross.

I can’t think of a better love story than that.

Fall in love first with the One who loves you so perfectly, so genuinely. He loves with a love that shatters all barriers our hearts may have. It’s a love that conquers a multitude of mistakes. He sees you as precious. Honored. You are His daughter!! Because of that, I so strongly encourage you to not settle for anyone who treats you as anything less than the daughter of the King. And besides, once we root ourselves in this love found in God, why on earth would we even desire anything less than His plan? A relationship with the right man will reflect the way that Jesus loves you. And a love like that is so worth the seasons of waiting.

Like a gem so rare, a star shining in the night sky, Jesus thinks you are worth pursuing. He pursues you with this ultimate, steady love. A love that does not abandon, not even for a moment. I promise it’s a love stronger than anything you’ll ever know.

Things of this world can only bring temporary satisfaction, but when we delight ourselves in the Lord -- when our desire is Him – He’ll give you those desires of your heart. Because when we seek after Him, our hearts align with His. He created your heart; He designed every single passion that runs so intricately through all of who you are. He sees your desires, and all the promises of God find their Yes in Him. (2 Corinthians 1:20)

You are so precious to Him. When the waiting game gets tough, remind yourself to find your worth and your joy in who He is. He sees your heart, and your faithfulness will be rewarded. I can assure you that the man that God has hand-picked for you will surpass your wildest dreams. And it will be so worth the wait. I promise.

1. Where do the main desires of your heart lie? Has your focus fallen from God’s greater plan? If so, what are some ways you can get yourself back on that path?

2. How can you continue to remind yourself of your first Love found in Jesus?

God, thank You for loving me with the most steady love.Thank You for pursuing me and for defining what love truly is. I thank You that Your ways are so much higher than my own. Help me to remember that, and to remember that I am Your daughter.
