Faithful to Provide

He is the maker of heaven and earth and the sea,

and everything in them - he remains faithful forever.

- Psalm 146:6

We have all faced trials, hardships, and doubt that our needs will be met. Maybe your bank account has been sitting at $1.67 and rent is due next week, maybe you’re about to graduate and there are zero job opportunities on the horizon, or you’re lonely without a true community to pour into you. There are countless circumstances that can swallow you whole and make you feel as if the weight of the world is on your shoulders.

Trust me, I’ve been there many times before. There have been so many times in my life where He has been so faithful to provide, but this is one that was so glorious and evident that He cared so deeply for me. I graduated college in December of 2017 and was torn between starting fresh in a new city or staying in my hometown. The decisions I had to make about my future consumed my every thought and I was overwhelmed wondering if God truly had a plan and provision for my future. There were moments of deep despair and anxiety over my future, but once I turned to God and prayed for doors to open and close where they needed to everything changed.

I searched for a job in Nashville endlessly and there was no progress, but a job in my hometown literally fell into my lap… no exaggeration. I wasn’t seeking employment there and was asked to interview at an elementary school. I believed this could be practice for a future job interview somewhere else, until I was the first candidate to be offered the job. In that moment I felt overwhelming peace about staying in my hometown. God provided in tremendous ways when I started to trust in him and his faithfulness to make a way.

Ladies, there will be times where you are full of doubt and anxious thoughts just like I was and still experience to this day. I promise that when you turn to Him and surrender those feelings He will provide. He might not provide in the way you were hoping for or expecting, and your circumstances most likely won’t change over night, but He hears you and is carefully making a way for you. He is righteous in all His ways and faithful in all He does (Psalm 145:17) and you can trust His word. So whether your bank account, future decisions, loneliness, or anything under the sun is bringing you anxiety and doubt just lay it down and look to God. He sees you sister and won’t leave you. He is faithful to provide.

1. Is there anything in your life right now that is causing you to be anxious or giving you doubts? How can you let go of that?

2. When in your life has God provided? Write down a list of 5-10 things He has provided you with and how He has blessed you.

Father thank you for loving us so dearly and so well. We are blessed beyond measure just by being able to experience and rest in your love. I pray that when I have anxious thoughts and doubt your provision that I am able to quickly shut it down. I pray for a heart that trusts in your faithfulness to provide. Thank you so much for your heart for me and plans. Thank you for seeing me as your daughter and listening to me.
