There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God
who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.
- Philippians 1:6 (MSG)
Friends, this verse has been such a life giver to me. Even better, it’s an eternally-minded life giver to help me never forget the lengths in which Christ went to on the cross for each and every one of us. He didn’t take on the weight of all of our shortcomings for absolutely nothing. His act of selfless love has opened the opportunity for you and I to thrive in this life. Once we let that soak in, our desire grow into the person God created us to be grows more and more.
Worthy. Loved. Chosen. Beautifully created in His image.
Life is hard sometimes. My life isn’t perfect, and I’m sure you can relate too. It’s not easy (nor expected) to sit back and let trial after trial build up without letting it phase you. I know because trials have certainly phased me. In those moments, it can be hard to find any room for growing and thriving into something greater.
I hope that you find peace in this: He did not bring you this far to just leave you. And I’ve learned this from times He didn’t leave me.
Sure, maybe you find yourself drowned in stress or you feel unworthy of a joy-filled life. And that is okay, you’re human. I’m human. It happens. Your heart and your mind are both as powerful as you let them be, whether that be for making a positive change or remaining motionless.
Remember, small steps forward are still headed in the right direction even when it may feel like you are alone and struggling to find your way out of the darkness. But I’m learning that, Jesus shines brighter than any other distraction of this world. When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
Making God-moves will set you apart from those around you. God-moves require a whole lot of faith, trust, and a desire to grow outside of your comfort zone. Sometimes this means reflecting on and removing the distractions that are keeping you from growing into a life of true joy and fullness found in Him.
He started a great work in you and you better bet He wants nothing more than for you and I to live out of His love and light. Through His light, we can not just survive but thrive.
1. What does a thriving life mean to you?
2. What is distracting you from adding growth and meaning to your life? Begin a new journey of implementing positive change and one by one rid your life of those distractions.
Heavenly Father, let Your Word and acts of kindness soak into my soul, helping me grow into the person You created me to be. You are a God of compassion, purpose, and selfless love. Thank You that I can thrive in the life you have given me knowing that I have a firm foundation to always fall back on. I am choosing to make the most of my time here knowing that my eternal Home awaits. Allow me to be a soldier fighting to grow into an abundant life. In Your name I pray, Amen.
