Give Sacrificially

You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly.

The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it. You drench its furrows and level its ridges; you soften it with showers and bless its crops. You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance. The grasslands of the wilderness overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness. The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing.

- Psalm 65:9-13 NIV defines overflow, v.: to flow or run over, as rivers or water. To have the contents flowing over or spilling, as an overfull container. N:, something that flows or runs over. Sisters, if you lean into the Lord He will overflow from every part of your heart, actions, words, and soul.

God cares for us, He waters us, and His desire is to enrich our lives abundantly with Him! The water that He provides is what feeds our souls and lets us grow through our daily time with the Lord, Christ-centered friendships, and servant hearts. When we are focused on God the outcome of our actions is overflow. He is only good, He can’t be anything else, He’s not having a good day, that is the source of His existence and He ONLY wants us to seek that from Him. When were centered on Him nothing but that can come out of us!

The days my heart is angry, aggravated, and discontent are the also the days I don’t let Him water me. These are the days that I know my heart isn’t focused on Him. My schedule seems too full, my bank account low, my patience thin, and my heart aching over any little or large thing. When I am letting Him fill my cup to overflowing even on the toughest days there is still so much hope, hope in tomorrow, hope in the next hour. Only He can provide that kind of peace.

Since His desire is to bless His flock (us) how can we honor Him? What do our schedules look like? What do our bank accounts show? Where are our eyes wandering? What does our Netflix reveal? What about our text messages? Recent Amazon purchases? This is where we honor Him sisters!! Honor Him with your time... Honor him with your words... Honor Him with your bank account... Honor Him with your talents!! Mark 12:42-44 says, “But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few small cents, Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, ‘Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.’”

All she had to live on?! Hard to imagine.. He doesn’t call us to give until it’s comfortable, He calls us to give sacrificially! What does that gift look like in your life? Your time?

When we are letting Him water us, He will soften our hard places, He will bless our crops and sacrificial giving, and our lives will overflow with His goodness. We are clothed with gladness and able to shout for joy and sing His praises!!! When we are able to let Him, we can then bless others out of that overflow. Run sisters, run to Him. He loves us more than our brains can comprehend.

1. What is one way you can let Him overflow through you today?

2. How can you learn to live out of overflow through sacrificial giving of your time, money, or talents?

Heavenly Father, we are so thankful that when we seek You, You overflow us with Your goodness. Lord, I ask You to show me how I can seek You more with my everyday life until all I desire is more of You! Show me where to serve or give sacrificially and I know You will bless it. Show me Lord, I’m ready, Amen.
