Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.
- 2 Peter 3:18
According to Scripture, the gift of knowledge is an ability God gives to one who is able to understand His Word, analyze it, and share it with others in a way all can understand.
When I think of knowledge, I think of someone who has studied a topic so much they could teach a class on it. To me, having knowledge is such a gift, but it's earned through hard work and effort.
Peter and Paul explain it differently though. In Romans 15:14 Paul says we are all filled with knowledge because of God. Then in Colossians 2:2-3 Paul again says that God is whom all knowledge comes from.
Through studying how the Bible describes knowledge, I learned that I was mistaken in my way of thinking of how knowledge is obtained. Honestly, I’m not surprised that once again God’s Word has put me in my place.
So, what does this mean? Our knowledge is power. So powerful God can use it to bring others to Christ! Think of it this way - you may not know every single verse in the Bible, or every hit Christian song, but you do know the power of Jesus and what He has done for you. That is your power - He is your power. He has provided you with just the right amount of knowledge you need to share the Gospel. Whether that is in love, loss, grace, and so much more. Your knowledge is your ministry.
Friend, there is a whole world out there waiting for your specific gift of knowledge to be used. If you’re feeling unsure of what that is - dive into His word. His Word always has the answers, you only need to search and ask for them. And if you can’t find what you are looking for - pray. Ask God for guidance because He will always have the right answer for you...even if it’s not what you want or think is your ministry. He will guide you and give you that knowledge!
1. What is your knowledge and how can you use it to share the Gospel?
2. In what ways can you share your knowledge of Jesus Christ and what He has done for you with someone today?
Heavenly Father, we come to You today seeking You above all else, for it is You alone that gives us this great knowledge we have. Help us to share Your Word with those around us. Thank you so much for providing us with the knowledge of You, Your Word, and so much more. We love You today, and everyday. In Jesus’ name, amen.
