I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.
- Jeremiah 1:5 NLT
This week is all things Lane of Roses which just so happens to be one of my favorite ministries (insert all the celebration emoji’s and GIFs)!! Here at Lane of Roses our mission is to engage, empower, and equip women to live out their God-given purposes because we believe that every woman is made on purpose for a purpose!
We often discuss the topic of our identity because we know how easy it is to lose ourselves in the chaos of our sinful world. Which is why our awesome boss babes come up with a weekly Identity Check. It consists of asking ourselves three questions. Who is God? Who am I? And in light of those truths, what am I going to do about it?
I’ll give you an example of how to answer these questions from one of my past weekly Identity Checks: God is my provider. I am taken care of, and in light of these truths, I am going to trust Him completely and live out believing this truth.
Belief is a powerful thing. Take it from the girl who spent the past several years unaware of her unbelief. Apparently, I was the one in the back everyone had to say it louder for. It’s not that I didn’t believe in God. But at some point, I had allowed one lie from one person, years ago to take root in my heart, where it slowly began to erode the truth that before I was born I was set apart. I was made on purpose for a purpose. I only became aware of my unbelief when God used someone to gently, yet extravagantly remind me just how powerful belief can be, but also that He set me apart. He made me on purpose for a purpose. Everything that I had been believing about myself at that time was not who God created me to be. I had settled. I had stopped asking God for what I knew I needed from Him, in order to be who He created me to be.
God already knows what we need (Matthew 6:8), but the Bible tells us we must ask (James 4:2), that we must ask continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and that it not be for selfish reasons (James 4:3).
Wherever it is you find yourself this season, we want you to know that you’re doing an amazing job! We’re all cheering for you loudly reminding you that you were made on purpose for a purpose. Now, go on and get believing and living that truth!
1. Who is God?
2. Who are you?
3. In light of those truths, what are you going to do about it?
Father God, thank You for being a generous God and loving me better than I deserve. Thank You for the Lane of Roses community that helps remind me of Your truths, gives me a space to learn and the grace to grow. God, please help me to stand firm in who You created me to be and help me to equip others to do the same. I believe I was made on purpose for a purpose, and it is with that confidence I know my identity is secure in You. In Your mighty name I pray, Amen.
