Under his wings we will find refuge. - Psalm 91:4 (NIV)
As we enter one of the busiest times of the year, it can be all too easy to start to feel overwhelmed. Especially with all the changes this year has brought to how we may live our everyday lives. We might find ourselves wanting to run away and indulge in some of our favorite distractions, instead of turning to God.
I know when I have felt overwhelmed in the past I have found it hard to continue to press on and dig into His Word at times. Instead, it may seem easier to just give in to a different reality from a Netflix binge, or a new book. However, while there is nothing inherently wrong with either of these things, they won’t bring our soul what it truly longs for. When we let God into our mess, we are able to receive his individual message for us.
With Thanksgiving here, it is the perfect time of year to reflect on all that He has done for us. Even when we have unanswered prayers on our hearts, He has never left us. Even if your family isn’t big on gathering around the table and verbally sharing all they are thankful for, you can still take a moment during your quiet time and create your own list. Personally, this season of Thanksgiving, I am super thankful for my puppies, husband, and sweet baby nephew.
