Don’t Doubt the Truth

Jesus replied, "Now the time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory."
- John 12:23
Have you ever doubted something even though the truth was right in your face?
In John 12, this is what happens with Jesus and the Greeks. As Jesus stands before them, the Father speaks from Heaven, and they deny it saying “Oh, it’s just thunder, maybe an angel.” Jesus tells them, “I am the Messiah” and they respond with, “Just who is this Son of Man, anyway?”(v 34).
Could you imagine asking Jesus if He was Jesus? How embarrassing.
I don’t know about you, but I sure have done it. I have doubted my “gut feeling”, or the “voice in my head” was Him. I brush it off as worldly thoughts, anxiety, or the enemy. No doubt it could be any of those things, but more often than not is it Him, reaching for us, wanting us, loving us.
As we come to know Him more and get closer to Him, we are able to discern when it is Him. So, why couldn’t the Pharisees? Was it pride? Denial? Other human emotions that can take us over without Our Heavenly Father leading us? Perhaps. But what we do know is that some of the Jewish leaders who did believe Jesus was the Messiah wouldn’t admit it for fear of being kicked out of the synagogue. Verse 43 states, “For they loved human praise more than the praise of God.” How sad is that.
Friend, I don’t ever want you to get to that point. Always search for the Lord, ask Him to help you draw near to Him. He wants to help you, and He will help you. Don’t doubt His capability to be near you, or honor you. “Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you will become children of the light” (v 36). He came to the world not to judge, but to save (v 47). So let Him save you today, for He is the Messiah.
Reflection
1. Have you ever doubted Jesus? What is one way you pray to be more bold every day in Him?
2. What is one way you can step closer to a relationship/in your relationship with Jesus today?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I want to apologize for ever doubting Your glory. You are always with me, and I should know to trust You in those moments of doubt. Help me to be more bold in You every day. Don’t let me be like the Greeks in this story and brush You off - save me, Lord. Save me from my sins, and from the darkness. I want to walk in Your Light with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
