Father's Day Gifts on a Budget
Written by: Alexis Asamoah
I don’t know about you all, but I often find it hard to shop for gifts for my dad. He tends to buy things for himself when he needs it, like a new laptop or a new watch. Sometimes it’s hard to find a gift that won’t break the bank, especially if it’s a high quality gift.
So what are some fresh ideas for a girl on a budget to buy for Father’s Day?
1. Ask your mom!
She knows your dad best and what he needs. She could also help with the cost of a more expensive item, such as a new shaving kit or Apple watch. If you have siblings, you could also ask them to pitch in for a gift.
2. Get a unique item from Etsy!
This website always seems to have a wide variety of unique, handmade gifts. One year, I got my dad a wooden sign with painted words that spelled out “father”. (I also got a matching one for my mom on Mother’s Day!)
3. Make him something personalized!
If you are crafty, you can make something like a card, photo album, or a piece of clothing. Even if it’s something small, it’s the thought that counts!
4. Get him some new tools!
Does he like using tools out in the garden or yard? Is he handy and likes to do projects around the house? Buy your dad some replacement tools or ones he doesn’t already have. They can be expensive, but the cost can be split with your mom and siblings.
5. Plan a whole day with him!
Since Father’s Day always falls on a Sunday, you can cook his favorite meals or get takeout from his favorite restaurant, watch his favorite movies or shows, play games, or do whatever he likes to do for fun.
There are so many ways you can be creative and stay on a budget, now that COVID-19 has caused all of us to stay home more! Just spending time with your dad, showing him that you care and are thoughtful is all that matters. Have fun!
