Having Hope in a Messy World

Lane of Roses community members, friends, and fellow readers,
This current season has been an adjustment for us all. From personal struggles to everything going on with the virus situation, it has been more imperative than ever that we continue to seek out hope. Whether you are struggling financially, mentally, emotionally, or in other ways during these rather odd times, don’t forget that He is always with you.
Now that we have moved on into a new year and season, it’s the perfect opportunity to embrace our current blessings and those that may be on the way. One of my favorite ways to practice gratitude is to journal a list of the good things that happened during the current day. Surely you can think of one part of the day that wasn’t so bad.
Going through this simple practice can help us to turn our thoughts back to what really matters. God will always make a way to provide for our needs. Saying a quick thanks to the dude upstairs for the little things that go right in our life can make those big blessings that much sweeter when they come.
When you find yourself focusing on what you feel like you don’t have, it can be hard to remember all that you do have. If we start putting our hope in things or people of the world, we might start to feel defeated. This new year, let's continue to embrace the joy of the Lord in whatever season He places us in.
Dear Lord, I pray that You will help us to continue to see Your goodness and light in all things this season. Remind us that You alone are where our hope comes from. Help us to show others joy and kindness each day. We thank You for Your presence and direction when life gets tough. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
