This was His eternal plan, which He carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Because of Christ and our faith in Him, we can now come
boldly and confidently into God’s presence.
- Ephesians 3:11-12
God is and always will be more than we can understand.
He’s been planning out the “story” of our world for eternity. I often struggle making a plan for the next twenty-four hours, so I know I can’t imagine planning something for an eternity.
On top of that, our plans are—just like the beings carrying them out—imperfect. They are subject to change and often do.
Since the beginning of time, God has been working out His perfect plan for the salvation of mankind through His perfect Son, Jesus.
But, once again, God has even more in store for us. Not only did He send His Son to die to provide redemption from our sins, He sent Jesus so that we may have the opportunity to have a relationship with our Heavenly Father.
The Bible is overflowing with proclamations of God’s love for His people. Because of that love, He desires to have true relationships with them. Unfortunately, because of our sins, we have no right to approach God on our own.
“God is light, and there is no darkness in Him at all” (1 John 1:5). Our sin separates us from God because He is perfect. God knows this and wanted to provide a way for us to receive salvation from those sins and access to Him and His love.
In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Without Jesus’ sacrifice we would have no access to God whatsoever, and God provided above and beyond what we could have ever expected. Not only do we have forgiveness for our sins, we have a direct link to God through Jesus. We don’t have to go to a priest or offer a sacrifice. If we place our faith in Jesus, we can have the ability to talk to God wherever, whenever, and about whatever.
Hebrews 10:19-22 also tells about the relationship we can have with God through Christ: “And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter Heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By His death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting Him.”
Because of God’s love for us and His desire to have a relationship with those who trust in Him, we have the wonderful opportunity to “come boldly and confidently into God’s presence” (Ephesians 3:12).
Reflection
1. When was the last time that you approached God boldly and confidently?
2. How can you make an effort to spend time with God this week?
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You so much for the plan You set in motion for my salvation. Thank You for not only saving me from my sins, but allowing me to have a relationship with You. Thank You for always being within reach. Help me to never take that for granted. Amen.
