Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us
confidence that we will inherit eternal life.
- Titus 3:7 (NLT)
Hope is an amazing thing that comes from our God. I love it so much! Hope is something about God that draws me closer to Him every day!
A specific kind of hope that is given to His children is a hope for eternal life. Titus 3:7 talks about the inheritance we have in eternal life. We have a CONFIDENCE about the eternal life we have, the wonderful life ahead of us.
And those who believe will have eternal life (John 3:16). Yet for me, eternal life is a hard concept to understand. I heard a song this week called “There Will Be a Day” by Jeremy Camp. The lyrics and the meaning behind it helped gain a better perspective on eternal life.
“But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings
There will be a place with no more suffering
There will be a day with no more tears, no more pain, and no more fears
There will be a day when the burdens of this place,
Will be no more, we'll see Jesus face to face
But until that day, we'll hold on to you always
There will be a day, He'll wipe away the tears”
WOW! How amazing are those lyrics! To hear the hope and promises He will give us! To hear of a place with no more suffering, no more pain, and no more tears! Especially after everything that has happened this year. I don’t know about you, but 2020 was rough for me. And getting a reminder of the eternal life Jesus gives is so exciting!
1. With everything that has happened this year, how does the hope of eternal life relieve stress?
2. Take a moment to breathe, listen to “There Will Be a Day” by Jeremy Camp, and ask yourself how God is your hope.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for today! And for the reminder of the amazing promises You have for us. The eternal life You have given us for a hope to a better life! Jeremiah 29:11 says that You will give us a plan for a good future and hope. God, give us the peace in knowing that You will give us an eternal life with no more pain and no more tears. Thank You!
In Your name, Amen!
