What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
- John 2:11
Can you imagine being approached by Jesus? Can you imagine being chosen by Jesus Himself as one of His disciples? Can you imagine the journey that would follow?
Wow...to be an eyewitness at the scene of when miraculous things happen.
Oh wait! You are chosen by Jesus, to be one of His disciples. Matthew 28:19-20 tells us that we are to go and make disciples of all nations, (that includes YOU!) baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! It also tells us to teach of His commandments and that He is with us always, until the end of time. Now that’s a promise to be in awe of!
In the second chapter of John, it speaks of how Jesus turned water into wine. And when the master of the banquet tasted of the wine, he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”
Could you imagine attending a wedding and watching someone turn six huge water jars into wine? Talk about mind blown!
But have you ever had a “God Thing” happen to you? It’s no different. For example, when the COVID-19 pandemic began, my husband and I were fearful for our financial situation. We’re both self-employed and non-essential, therefore we were both forced to shut down. In late November 2019, my husband had some medical issues which resulted in a hospital stay and in turn, incurred a hefty bill!
Well, at the beginning of quarantine I sat down and tried to get all of our financial affairs in order, one of which was to get that large bill setup on some sort of payment schedule so that we could manage paying off the debt. So I called the billing department, and in my most professional voice I began explaining what’s happened and that I’d like to establish some method for repayment. And the phone goes silent. “Hello, are you still there?!” I ask. Then the representative answers, “Yes ma’am, but I’m not seeing the balance you’re speaking of. The account number you listed shows a balance of roughly $275.00.”
Hello! Miracle Alert!!
Our miracles today are no less than the miracles we read about in our Bibles. God saw a need, and He met it! I don’t tell you this as some enlightenment into our financial situation, I tell you this as reassurance that God is STILL working miracles. He has not stopped! Sure, it wasn’t a turning-water-into-wine kind of thing, but it was a miracle! And it was a miracle God made happen for me and for the good of my family. One I wasn’t just able to read about, but was able to experience!
I urge you to be open to the calling God has on your life. Allow Him to replenish your cup, and acknowledge the miracles He is working in your life. They may seem small in comparison, but your testament of God’s goodness may be just what is needed to win a heart for Jesus.
1. What is one miraculous or unexplainable “God Thing” has happened in your life?
2. How can you use that experience to witness to others?
Dear God, I thank You for loving me like You do. Help me to see all of the miracles You work in my life, no matter how big or small. Help me to be open and aware of opportunities to be a witness for You. I am so grateful for Your grace and mercy, and for Your unexpected blessings. I thank You for giving me the opportunity and purpose to tell the world of Your goodness. I love You, Lord, Amen.
