When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed
to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.
- Ephesians 3:4-5 ESV
Have you ever been to a “reveal” party? I am not sure when this began, but my adult kids have been a part of a few of them. There is much anticipation when the gender of the unborn baby is revealed through a creative plan to release this mystery to all in attendance. (I’ve seen YouTube clips that show many of these clever and sometimes hilarious events!) This revelation brings great joy to everyone and now the family has a better understanding of the miracle of the life that is theirs!
In Ephesians, Paul reveals a “mystery of Christ” and this passage is quite fascinating. Nowhere in the Old Testament (other generations) had the believers in God known what we know today. How incredible is it that when Christ was crucified and raised from the dead only then would the Holy Spirit be revealed? In fact, the apostles were told by Jesus that, “Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you” (John 16:7 ESV). Through the “holy apostles and prophets” the revelation of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of believers is reality today!
Jesus loves you and He sacrificed His life for yours. And when you accept Him as the Lord of your life and repent of all sins that drag you down, the Holy Spirit arrives. Your life will be changed for the better and the Helper/Comforter/Counselor/Intercessor will never leave you. This gift has been revealed and now it is time to open it or let it remain closed. I hope you open it.
1. Do you appreciate and understand the gift of the Holy Spirit and the role He plays in the life of a believer?
2. Are you allowing the revelation of the Spirit to guide and direct your life or is the world speaking too loudly?
Lord, we come to You today grateful for the Holy Spirit. Because of Jesus we can live victoriously with the Helper. We thank You for revealing Yourself to us through Your Word, creation, other followers of Jesus, and in so many ways! We lift up our lives to You and pray that each and every day we will grow to know and love You better. It’s in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
